antique_tableware_plate_fynd-0003778
Crown Devon / Dinner plate (main plate) / 1910s / Pottery / England / Hand painted, floral pattern, British antique, retro, gold mining / [Antique]

This is a ceramic dinner plate produced by S. Fielding & Co. under the "Crown Devon" brand in Stoke-on-Trent, England in the early 20th century. Judging from the "S.F. & Co." crown stamp and design style on the back, it is assumed that it was made in the 1910s. A bouquet of white and pink flowers reminiscent of wild roses is drawn freely on an amber-tinged peach-colored ground, and a gold arabesque scroll with a scalloped edge adds a calm dignity to the entire bowl.

Details

Founded in 1879, S. Fielding & Co. is one of Staffordshire's leading kilns and is known for producing many highly decorative ceramics under the Crown Devon brand. Although the name of the specific pattern cannot be confirmed on this plate, the depiction of flowers reminiscent of dog roses embodies the spirit of this era, which favored naturalistic plant expressions. The delicate line drawings transferred to the copper plate are overlaid with the craftsman's hand coloring, and the crazes (crazes) at the edges are proof of the quiet eternity of time.

Recommended uses

A dinner plate with a diameter of approximately 25 to 26 cm plays its primary role as a main plate for serving pasta and grilled dishes, while also fitting naturally into a casual tea time setting where cakes and fruits are arranged. When hung as a decorative plate on the wall, the neat flower design, which resembles a botanical painting, will bring a sense of the season to your space and add a quiet color to your daily life.

Interior coordination proposal

[French style]

When combined with a white wood-framed mirror and linen tablecloth, the neat floral pattern of wild roses and gold-colored scrolls create a bright and elegant dining space reminiscent of a mansion in the south of France.

[Japanese modern style]

When combined with a sideboard with a calm wood grain and Japanese paper lighting, the peach amber and white and pink flowers evoke the appearance of Japanese wildflowers, creating a space where Eastern and Western aesthetics intersect quietly.

About quality and condition

As this is a reused product, there is some signs of use compared to a new product.

There may be some color unevenness due to repair marks or aging.

There may be slight scratches or scuff marks due to use, but this does not affect use.

There may be slight differences in color tone between the photo and the actual product.

[About confirmation at physical store]

You can see the actual product at our physical store in Meito Ward, Nagoya City.
