Lladró's representative masterpiece "Little Kiss" was manufactured for a limited period from 1978 to 1985. These porcelain porcelain dolls are individually handmade by craftsmen in Valencia, Spain, and are a lyrical work that captures the moment of young love when a girl gives a kiss to a boy. It features the gentle pastel colors unique to Lladró and a gloss finish that gives off a soft luster, and the bottom is engraved with a bellflower backstamp.
Details
Lladró began in the 1950s when the three Lladró brothers built a kiln near Valencia, and the 1970s and 1980s are known as the golden age of the brand. In the works of this period, the technology for manufacturing porcelain dolls using hard white kaolin clay reached its peak of perfection, making it possible to create delicate expressions using as many as 4,000 colors of paint. The prototype for this work was created by sculptor Francisco Catalla, and it was created as the result of advanced techniques in each department: planning, design, carving, sculpting, painting, glazing, and firing. It is currently out of print and is becoming increasingly rare.
