Product description/features
This brazier was made by Noritake (Japan Pottery Company) from around 1933. White chrysanthemum flowers are carefully painted on the upper half, which has a deep green glaze, and the yellow flower core adds a lovely accent. The lower half is a gentle cream color, and the two-tone color scheme creates a unique fusion of Japanese and Western style.
The bottom is engraved with a red "Nissto" stamp, which is thought to indicate that it is a pre-war Noritake product. Although it has a simple cylindrical form, the glossy green glaze and floral pattern create an elegant and glamorous look. Although it shows signs of use due to age, it is in good condition considering the age of the pottery. This is a rare masterpiece from the early Showa period that combines traditional Japanese beauty and Western design sense.
