This flower vase with ears is made in Shigaraki ware, one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, produced mainly in Shigaraki, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. Shigaraki ware began in the 13th century during the Kamakura period and is known for its use of high-quality clay extracted from the Old Biwa Lake layer, which dates back approximately 4 million years.
