Kobeigama is a famous kiln with roots in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. This single-mouthed pot was created by a pottery that has inherited the pride of being the official kiln of Edo Castle since its opening in 1804, and whose generations of master craftsmen have worked with Mino soil and fire. On the inside of the bowl, the words ``Konofuku'' are freely drawn in ink, and on the back of the lid of the box, you can see the ink and signature of ``Kobei the Seventh.'' This item, which is believed to have been produced in the 1990s to 2000s, shows little signs of use and is in good condition.

Details

Kobei Kiln is a famous kiln representing Mino that was opened by the first generation Kobei Kato in Nokurago, Minokuni City in the first year of the Bunka era, and became famous as a kiln for the government to deliver dyed tableware to the Honmaru and Nishigomaru of Edo Castle. Kobei Kato VII is a potter who has developed a unique world of pottery by combining the diverse expressions learned from the pottery cultures of countries spread along the Silk Road, with a background in the tradition of Mino pottery. This work, ``Konofuku-bachi,'' is a single-mouthed bowl with the three characters ``Konofuku'' drawn in generous strokes on an ivory-colored white base. The spout at the rim and the organically curved rim create a beautiful form. The paulownia wood box is engraved with seven generations' ink calligraphy and a red seal, quietly telling the story of the work's quality.

Recommended uses

Utilizing its function as a single-mouthed bowl, it can be used at the dining table to serve aemono dishes, vinegared dishes, and small side dishes, and the white base and ink-painted letters will bring out the color of the dishes. In addition, the shape with a spout makes it an attractive condiment holder when serving with a small amount of seasonings or soup stock. Away from the dining table, by placing a single small flower in a vase to display in the entryway or alcove, the characters ``Konofuku'' will gently add blessings to the space. It is the perfect item to use as a place to entertain guests, or as a reward for yourself to create a polite lifestyle.
