Tokoname ware is known as one of Japan's six oldest kilns that has been in operation since the Heian period in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, and boasts a history of over 1,000 years. Crystal glaze is an advanced technique in which the ingredients contained in the glaze crystallize during firing, and the size and shape of the crystals change depending on temperature control and cooling rate. The flower-like crystals seen on this platter are an art born from Shingo Iwahashi's expert technique and dialogue with flame. Seitengama's works are praised for their unique aesthetic sense, which combines modern sensibilities while preserving tradition.
