A masterpiece of porcelain lace doll by Luigi Fabrice, a master of Italian ceramics. Born in Bassano del Grappa in 1883, he studied sculpture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, and applied his outstanding sculptural abilities to the art of porcelain. This work was created in the mid-20th century and depicts an elegant scene of a lady and a gentleman sitting on chairs. The multi-layered, ultra-thin porcelain lace created using a unique low-temperature firing technique developed by him is as delicate as real fabric, and thin enough to allow light to shine through. The floral decorations on the lady's white dress, the texture of the gentleman's red jacket, and the sense of life in the faces of the two men are works of art that can only be achieved by the skills of a sculptor.

Details

Fabrice took over Raffaele Passarin's workshop in 1912 and began manufacturing porcelain in Milan. Successfully firing at a high temperature of 1300 degrees, he established an art porcelain workshop at Corso Independenza 7. He achieved international fame at the 1929 Leipzig trade fair, and his works were exported all over the world. A red anchor mark and the signature "L. FABRIS" are engraved on the bottom, proving the authenticity of the work. The lace of the dress is hand-shaped by craftsmen one by one, and the flowers are carefully colored with a brush. The lady's graceful gestures, the gentleman's gentlemanly demeanor, and the intimate atmosphere that flows between the two perfectly express the romantic scenes and scenes of daily life that Fabrice was known for.
