This Gabbeh masterpiece can be called a ``colorful picture scroll of nomads'' by skilled weavers from the Shiraz region in southwestern Iran, the holy land of Persian carpets. A large size with an outstanding presence, a colorful border design woven using traditional hand-woven techniques and a paradise of adorable animals spread out.

Design features

The biggest charm of this Gabbeh is its colorful, jewel-like border that surrounds the warm cream-colored main field. The surrounding border is a regular arrangement of bright square panels in red, blue, green, yellow, and brown, each intricately woven with a different animal or plant motif.

The cream-colored field in the center has motifs of small animals and flowers scattered throughout, creating an idyllic scene that looks like animals playing freely in a meadow. Natural motifs such as sheep, goats, birds, and flowers speak of the nomads' rich view of nature and wisdom about life.
