[Carpet/Rug/Persian Carpet] Gappé 750 x 570 mm, Handwoven, Shiraz, Plant-Dyed
This authentic Gabbeh carpet is handwoven by the Qashqai tribe in the Shiraz region of southwestern Iran. Originally created as a rug to place under tents by the nomadic Qashqai people of the Zagros Mountains in southwestern Iran to protect themselves from the heat and cold and ensure a comfortable life, it has been passed down for thousands of years as a precious cultural heritage. Featuring a natural, rustic design dyed with natural plant dyes, this authentic Gabbeh, handwoven with 100% wool yarn, is a special piece that brings warmth and natural beauty to modern living spaces.
This Gabbeh is woven by placing a loom on the floor and the weaver sits on it without looking at anything. This unique weaving method is unique to the Qashqai people. As a one-of-a-kind work of art woven without looking at a blueprint, using only the weaver's sensibility and experience, the same design is never created twice, giving it a unique value.
The fabrics are dyed with natural materials that are familiar to nomads, such as tree roots and nut bark. Abrash refers to the shades of color that are unique to plant-dyed threads. The gradation of blue that resembles shimmering water and the red that expresses the sunset that deepens over time are all natural beauties that can only be achieved with abrash.
The Shiraz region of Iran is a producer of high-quality Gabbehs, especially Shiraz Gabbehs, which are known for their plant-dyed construction. Gabbehs woven in this region are made from 100% pure wool and are made using traditional techniques passed down through generations, resulting in a unique texture and durability that cannot be found in other regions.
The adorable animals placed in the center and four corners are thought to be based on sheep, deer, birds, and other animals familiar to nomadic people. These animal motifs are not merely decorative, but are symbols with sacred meanings that express gratitude for the bounty of nature, the safety and health of families, and wishes for the prosperity of flocks.
The warm ivory color scheme is accented with vibrant red, blue, and green tones. These colors represent the natural landscapes that nomads see every day, such as desert sand, the red of the sunset, the blue of the sky, and the green of the oasis, and express the nomads' worldview, which values harmony with nature.
The slight distortions and irregularities that are unique to handwoven products give them a warmth that can never be achieved through machine production. These are not defects, but rather a sign of the warmth and individuality of the human hand, and are a special charm that grows on you the more you use them.

Daily care and maintenance
Basic care instructions
It is designed so that regular cleaning is sufficient with just a vacuum cleaner to remove dirt and dust. However, if you use too much suction, you may pick up too much hair, so when vacuuming, choose a low suction mode.
How to vacuum :
- Vacuum gently in the direction of the hair growth once or twice a week
- Use low suction and a brush head if available.
- Lightly vacuum the underside about once a month to keep it breathable.
How to deal with stains
For light stains : If you are concerned about light surface stains, gently wipe them off with a tightly wrung-out cloth. It is important to use as little water as possible and to dry thoroughly after wiping.
If a liquid is spilled :
- Immediately press a dry towel against the area to absorb the moisture.
- It is important to "press" the area without rubbing.
- Then let it dry naturally in a well-ventilated place
About professional cleaning
Professional cleaning once or twice a year will help maintain the original beauty and functionality of your Gabbeh carpet for a long time. We recommend cleaning at a Persian carpet specialty store. Please note that general dry cleaners may not be able to provide the proper treatment.
Please contact us regarding cleaning.
