This vase was crafted by the prestigious Karasaburo Kiln, which was summoned to serve as the official kiln for the Owari Tokugawa clan in 1612, during the reign of the 19th Tokugawa lord, Kato Karasaburo Kagemasa, and was permitted to use the family name and carry a sword. Akazu ware flourished as the official kiln for the Owari Tokugawa clan from the Momoyama period through the early Edo period, establishing various glazing techniques such as Shino, Oribe, Kiseto, and Ofukai. This piece is glazed in a deep green to near-black hue, creating a unique surface with light spots and horizontal lines that appear in layers. The elegant, long, pot-shaped form exudes a refined presence.

The current head of the family is Kato Tozaburo, the 31st head of the family, who took over the name in 1991, but this vase was made by his predecessor, the 30th head of the family. Akazu ware is characterized by seven glazes and twelve decorative techniques, including the use of seven different glazes: ash glaze, iron glaze, koseto, kiseto, oribe, shino, and fukai. The deep color seen in this vase is the result of a glaze with a high iron content, and the natural flow and spots created by the movement of the flame during firing give it a different appearance depending on the angle from which it is viewed. Regarding delivery of products, they are generally delivered to the front door and are not carried inside the building.
However, for large items, the service only covers clearing and installation.
