Hand-woven Gabbeh “Animal Studies” - Patchwork Design

The beautiful Gabbeh, which can be called a paradise for animals, was created by skilled weavers from southwest Iran who carry on the tradition of Persian rugs, making full use of the rich color sense of nomads and hand-weaving techniques that have been around for hundreds of years. This exciting work features a central field based on warm golden ocher, surrounded by a colorful patchwork border.

The biggest charm of this Gabbeh is the adorable animals that look like they came straight out of a picture book, and the beautiful color composition that looks like an overturned jewelry box.

Central Field (Golden Ocher) A variety of animals are freely placed on the warm golden earth. Animals with red bodies and blue accents, white flower motifs, and small birds are scattered regularly and naturally, like a story about a day on the farm.

Patchwork Border The frame-like border around the center is made up of square panels in deep greens, bright reds, and rich blues. Each panel is woven with a different animal or plant motif:

Tassel decoration on the four corners As a sign of traditional hand-weaving, the four corners are decorated with tassels made of colorful threads. These tassels have a practical meaning in nomadic life, but they also have decorative beauty.
